App: ArabTrade Portal (com.centione.arabtradeportal)
Developer: Centione
ArabTrade Portal is an employee self-service app for the staff of companies that run their HR on Centione's platform. This policy explains what personal data the app handles, where it goes, and what stays on your phone.
1. Two parties handle your data
Centione builds and publishes the app. Your employer operates the HR server the app connects to and is the organisation that holds your employment record. When you sign in, you enter your company's server address; from then on, everything the app shows comes from, and is sent to, that server.
2. Location — read only when you check in or out
The app can record attendance from your phone instead of the wall-mounted reader. That is the only thing location is used for, and this is exactly how it works:
- Only when you tap check in or check out. The app reads your position at that moment, on that screen. It never reads your location in the background, and it does not run while the app is closed.
- Only to confirm you are at a company location. Your position is compared with the locations your employer has registered. If you are outside the allowed area, the app tells you so and does not record the punch.
- Sent with the punch to your employer's server, together with the time, and stored there as part of your attendance record. It goes nowhere else.
- Never stored on your phone, and never a cached position. A fresh reading is taken each time, because an old one could be from somewhere you no longer are.
- Not tracking. Your location is not combined with anything outside your own attendance record, is not shared with anyone, and is not used for advertising or profiling. The app contains no advertising identifier.
Android asks for location permission, and iOS asks for "while using the app". If you refuse, the rest of the app keeps working; you can ask your HR department to record the day instead, using a missing-check request.
3. Other data the app handles
The app displays and submits the following categories of personal data on your behalf. All of it is created and stored by your employer's HR system; the app is the window onto it.
| Category | Examples | Why the app uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Identity and contact | Name, work email, phone number, employee ID | To sign you in and show your profile |
| Employment record | Job title, department, manager, hire date | Your profile screen |
| Attendance | Check-in and check-out punches with their time and place, hours worked, late arrivals, missing punches | The attendance clock, the attendance log and correction requests |
| Pay information | Payslips: net pay, earnings, deductions, pay period; salary advance and staff-loan requests | The payslips screen and HR requests you submit |
| Requests you write | Leave, excuse, mission, work-from-home, overtime, missing-check and resignation requests, with their reasons and status | Sent to your HR system for approval |
| Files you attach | A document you choose to attach to a request, for example a medical certificate | Sent with that request only |
The app does not collect contacts, photos (other than a file you deliberately pick), health data, advertising identifiers or usage analytics.
4. What stays on your phone
- Your sign-in session is kept in the device's secure storage (Keychain on iOS, encrypted storage on Android) so you do not have to sign in every time. It is removed when you sign out.
- Your preferences — language, theme and your company's server address — are stored as plain settings.
- Payslip details are never saved on the device and never written to logs. They are fetched from your employer's server each time you open them.
- Your location is never saved on the device.
- Other screens may keep a short-lived cache so they open faster; it is cleared when you sign out or uninstall.
5. Who receives the data
Data goes to one place: your employer's HR server. Centione does not sell, share or transfer your data to third parties, does not show advertising, and does not use analytics or tracking SDKs. No data is used for advertising or profiling.
The connection between the app and the server is set up by your employer. Centione recommends that every deployment uses HTTPS; whether a particular server does is decided and configured by the employer that operates it.
6. How long data is kept
Retention is governed by your employer's HR policies and the employment law that applies to it, not by the app. Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on the phone but does not change your employment record.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access, correction and deletion of your employment data are handled by your employer's HR department, as the organisation that holds it.
- Location permission can be refused or withdrawn at any time in your phone's settings; only the check-in and check-out feature stops working.
- Signing out removes your session and cached data from the device.
- Requests you have not yet submitted can be edited or withdrawn in the app until your approvers act on them.
- Depending on where you live, you may have further statutory rights over your personal data. You can exercise them with your employer; Centione will assist your employer where it is technically able to.
8. Who can use the app
ArabTrade Portal is for adult employees of Centione's client companies. There is no public sign-up; accounts are created by each company's administrator. The app is not directed at children and Centione does not knowingly handle data from anyone under 18.
9. Security
Session credentials live only in the platform's secure storage. Payslip data and location are never persisted locally. Centione follows secure development practices for the app and releases updates through Google Play and the App Store; keeping the app up to date is the best way to receive them.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with a new effective date. Material changes are also announced inside the app.
